2) I've discovered that Anthony Stewart Head is a leftie! :D
3) Also, we're making mayonnaise for our Bio lab tomorrow! LOL It should be fun! I bought my lab coat and safety goggles today. They say that we'd get kicked outta lab by the technician if we don't have our lab coats. :|
4) So, my English presentation went well :) I'm really relieved *phew*

Okay. Back to work.

EDIT: Omg there was some really bad acting in the first season of Buffy :| THANK GOD it got better

Also, I won a KitKat in Advanced Functions class today LOL This is my second time getting candy for answering a question in this class
Teacher says I'm going to get fat LOL

I don't get why noone else wants to answer the question when she says "I'm giving chocolate to whoever answers the question correctly"
I mean, I waited until the very last moment when she was about to retract her offer.
Oh well. More chocolate for me then! :D

CHER IS GOING TO BE A ROCKSTAR

Okay. Not really.
Remember how I was talking about auditioning for the Musical Theatre club? Well, today Mr. Suschkov told me that they wanted me to play rhythm guitar! :D
THIS IS GOOD. Because:
a) that's what I auditioned for and
b) I hate playing lead.

He also told me that he likes how I look while playing guitar? So he wants me to be on stage rocking out for at least one performance? *is flattered* I don't have to sing tho, thank you god.

Soooo. YEA :D I'M EXCITED. Rehearsals are next week I think. I can't wait~

Yes, I know that it was almost a given that I'd get in since NO ONE ELSE auditioned with an acoustic but this is a big deal for me. shut up.

Also, I am showing off my new Faith/Echo icon. Made by the AMAZING [info]obiwahn

EDIT: I got the confirmation e-mail that night!

Yes. I screencap everything.

So. What's new since my last post? Not much.

College is still kicking my sleep-deprived butt. Okay. It's really not as bad as I make it out to be haha. I just need to get into the whole homework routine again. I am, however, super worried about my English assignments.

ANYWAY, whats new?

1. MY HAIR IS SHORT AGAIN YAY!

2. I auditioned for a part in the Musical Theatre Club's music section. I was the only acoustic guitarist who auditioned so I'm HOPING that I'll get in :D I'll find out soonish I guess *goes off to check e-mail*
Nope. No announcements yet. Anyway~

3. I signed up for the Taylors' Wall Artists Club. As you can probably tell from the name, they go around painting murals! :D First meeting is tomorrow. Looks like I have to stay back late AGAIN. UGHHHH

4. The A/C in my room is dead. Two nights ago it started making this really creepy grumbly noise which which woke me up (at 3am, jsyk). ALSO, it was leaking a freaking waterfall of water + spitting ice out. A/Cs aren't supposed to be spitting ice. I think it's safe to say that my A/C has been possesed. It's so hot in my room right now ;___;

5. MY FLOOR TO CEILING BOOKSHELF IS COMPLETE YAY! :D (Too lazy to take a picture. Maybe once I have it filled up I'll take a pic :)

6. For my English assignment, I chose to analyze Death Cab for Cutie's song Transatlanticism. Presentation due next Tuesday, 700-1000 word essay due the following week. Help.

7. I have discovered Danielle Ate the Sandwich and now I can't stop listening to her songs. My faves are as follows:

I can't really think of anything else that's new. Plus, I have a shitload of advance functions homework right now.

GOODBYE INTERNET ;____;

 College college college. Omg. I have been soooo tired these past few days ;__;

College has been great! I really like my teachers. My biology teacher is cool and funny, my English teacher is really awesome (in the really intimidating kind of way) and my Advanced Functions teacher is awesome at teaching math. She leaves no room for confusion.
I'm definitely getting the hang of college life. and walking up those stairs isn't too bad. I'm hoping that my calf muscles are going to get toned from all the stair climbing! Haha! :D

Also, I've made some new friends~ Yay! I'm not a social retard! :D

On other news, Pei has already gone back to Australia~ Left Sunday morning. I cried. Not gonna lie. I'm a huge sap :|
Hanging out with Pei was amazing. She's an awesome person to talk to, gave me tons of advice and made me feel alot better about all the stuff thats been going on lately :) ily Pei!!
ALSO, I learnt how to play Monopoly Deal!! OMG IT'S A SUPER AWESOME GAME. GO BUY THE CARDS AND PLAY IT. NOW.

On other news~ I'm thinking of joining the musical theater club thing as well as volunteer for this program where we go and teach Somalian refugees!

The Somalian refugee thing is (i think) organized by the UN and it requires us volunteers to teach an hour and a half long class, once a week, for four months. We'll be teaching English and Math to refugees from Somalia. It's super sad really. Malaysia hasn't signed this refugee thing and now these people from Somalia cannot gets jobs or go to school because they are not legal. They're basically in limbo right now and.. yea :|

Anyway! We're paired up and each pair is assigned a day, class and level to teach. My partner (Su Kim) and I decided that Thursdays would be the best day for us (we had to choose between Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays). It's good because she wants to teach English and I want to teach Math. We're required to plan lessons and everything and this volunteer work is a pretty big commitment. I really really hope I can do this. The lessons shouldn't be too hard. The highest level of English and Math we might have to teach would probably be equivalent our Grade 6 stuff. No problem for someone in college! haha My Thursdays are going to be KILLER tho. We'd probably get back to campus around 7pm.
So, we'll be getting "training" from Ms. Sandra and some other teachers on how to plan lessons and deliver effective lessons.
There are a few reasons why I'm volunteering for this
a) I need to complete 10 hours of community service to graduate anyway. PLUS, it would look awesome on university applications.
b) Knowing that I'd have made a difference (or even TRIED to make a difference) would be awesome and I'd feel really proud of myself
c) I'll get to meet new people and one of my new years resolutions was to be more outgoing and step out of my shell anyway. I promised myself that I'm going to try new things.

Right now it's still up in the air. I don't know EXACTLY what or how this is going to go, but I'm quite sure that I'm gonna do this.

Next, the theater club thing. Well, IF things work out, I'd LOVE to be part of the band or whatever that plays the music for the actors on stage. It would be SO MUCH FUN. I'm really really hoping this will not clash with my other commitments. The final performance will be around April so it's not going to be a really long term commitment. Going to have to wait until all the notices are up and I have all the schedules.

I'm going to do all this now because my second semester is going to be hell (chemistry, physics and probably calculus) and I wouldn't wanna miss out on all these activities.
I dunno. As cliche as it sounds, I definitely feel like 2010 is the year of new beginnings for me :)

Oh right! I've been meeting up with Daniel these past few days. He's visiting from Australia and we've been catching up. That little creeper is ALWAYS hanging around our campus LoL too bad he can't actually come INSIDE

That's basically it! All the other stuff is pretty boring and minor. I haven't gotten alot of homework yet but I ALREADY feel super busy. I really need to catch up on sleep soon. Dark circles are not attractive. At all.

So, I had my 'Orientation Day' today. It was boring. And I was way too early too. 1 hour and 30 minutes early to be exact. :|

Basically, they introduced the staff, talked about the rules, gave me my schedule as well as my student ID card, talked about the library and..other stuff.

My time table:

Period             Time                          Subject

1                8am - 9.15pm                Biology
3          10.30am - 11.45am            English
5            1.00pm - 2.15pm              Advanced Functions

I think this is my time-table, everyday, five days a week. ;__________;

WHY DO I HAVE CLASS AT THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY?! THIS IS NOT FAIR! D<

P.S. I met Adrian at McDonalds. He's taking his A-Levels at Inti college :)

My LJ needs an update, so here it is!
Just got back from my "shopping spree". I got two pairs of jeans and 5 new tops. I think. Omg we spent so much money today X_X
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO EXPENSIVE?! D:

Also, went to the bookshop and got my supplies for college.

Anyway, I have some good news! My cousin Pei, my aunt and uncle are coming over this Wednesday and are staying a few nights! Yay! They live in Melbourne and haven't visited in awhile so I'm pretty excited! We finally have extra rooms so it's all gooood :D

Alsooo, I just found out that Eric, my most favourite cousin EVER, is moving in with us in a few days! :D OMG YAY. It's going to be like old times where we'd dance like maniacs and play stupid games like the "who can burp or fart the loudest". Good times :P
PLUS. He's a gamer like I am. Whoooo~
He's moving in with us 'cos I'm going to the same college as he is and right now he doesn't have a car. He's been living in a house near school and walking there everyday. Now that he's moving in, he can drive us both to school! XD

My orientation day is at 9am tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous but also really excited. I HOPE I WON'T BE LIKE, AN OUTCAST OR SOCIAL REJECT D:

Productive day today~
I'm feeling better, jsyk :)

I went for my first ever driving lesson today yesterday.
For someone who's never even tried to drive before, I think I was pretty kickass at it!
I totally drove myself home after the lesson ;)

I'm a ~natural. Hahaha

Driving is fun. It's kinda like playing a video game for some reason =/ Which probably explains why I picked it up so fast.

Today was a good day :)

Went to Wisma Bentley Music to go look at the Roland electric drumkits as well as acoustic guitars.
Man i LOVE that place. Effin HUGE.

(Best pic I could find online)
(Aren't the guitars pretty?)

(this isn't even half the place. There's a special room for ultra-pricey guitars, a bass room, piano room, amplifier room, soundboard room, drum room etc~)

Aaaand. Omg. They have this piano room where they display these AMAZING Steinway & Sons grand pianos. Holy effin hell!!
I tried two of them out. One was over 400 000 dollars and the other? 790 000 !! It was crazy beautiful and amazing and awesome and I LOVED IT. There was a normal upright piano as well that I tried. 30 000 bux. And sounded amazing <3

Can you spot me? LOL

~Anyway

I BOUGHT MY TD-4 !!

WHOOOOOO~ *dances*
Been waiting ages to get my drumkit :D Was very lucky that they had ONE MORE drumkit left for the TD-4. Would've had to wait maybe a week or more if they didn't have them in stock :P
Anyway, I got the kit, a drum throne, kick pedal (Tama Iron Cobra~) and a beautiful Roland amp to go with it :D

NOT ONLY THAT, I GOT A NEW SEMI-ACOUSTIC GUITAR TOO!! :D
It's a Korea-make Takamine G-Series EGS330SC. It's beautiful and sounds awesome ♥

We weren't actually planning on getting a new guitar today. Decided last minute to get it since I needed a new one anyway. My old Epiphone is broken ;__; It has this large crack in the neck and has started buzzing really badly.
I'm really glad I got the new Takamine. I might actually start playing guitar everyday again haha
Bought a guitar stand to go with it. It's pretty cool :) Got a free strap as well since we spent RM8000+ at the store today.
*happy sigh*

Now all we hafta do is finally clean up the music corner. Should be able to set everything up by tomorrow or the day after.
On ~other news, THE HOT TUB IS READY. YES! And it's gorgeous and feels amazing. Already tested it out yesterday :)
After months of bullshit and headaches things are really starting to look up :)

Just so you know, my sister took these pics. They look really good don't they. She's a 12-year-old aspiring photographer. 12 for goodness sake!!

OMFG. College starts in about TWO WEEKS asdgfjasdl;kf
I haven't bought my books yet. Planning on buying old books from the seniors who'll be selling them during the first few weeks of college. Should be able to save some money :P
Also, first driving lesson tomorrow! I'm kinda excited

Man. Haven't made a post this long in AGES =/
Anyway, what else is new? Oh right. MIBBIT CHAT IS AWESOME AND I LOVE MY LJ FRIENDS ♥ ♥ ♥

My Sister's Keeper

  • Dec. 24th, 2009 at 12:23 AM

I just finished reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Man oh man oh man T_T
WHY?! D'x
Dear Ending, I hate you for being so beautiful yet so depressing ;_;

The book is BRILLIANT. I adore Jodi's writing. It's amazing and just sucks you in. I think Jesse might be my favourite character, mostly because he's so messed up and complicated yet so... I don't know how to explain it.

It really gets you thinking about life, love, family and death. It touches controversial topics like designer babies and stem-cell research.
I've actually learnt quite alot from this book. Even things about astronomy, as Brian, one of the characters is an astronomy lover.

I want to share with you one of the parts I love (there were too many that I couldn't remember).

When I was seven I got it in my head to dig to China. How hard could it be, I figured - a straight shot, a tunnel? I took a shovel out of the garage and started a hole just wide enough for me to slip into. Every night I would drag the old plastic sandbox cover across it, just in case of rain. For four weeks I worked at this, as the rocks bit into my arms to make battle scars, and roots grabbed at my ankles.

What I didn't count on were the tall walls that grew around me, or the belly of the planet hot under my sneakers. Digging straight down, I'd gotten hopelessly lost. In a tunnel, you have to light your own way, and I've never been very good at that.

When I yelled out, my father found me in seconds, although I'm sure I waited through several lives. He crawled into the pit, torn between my hard work and stupidity. "This could have collapsed on you!" he said, and lifted me onto the solid ground.

From that point of view, I realized that my hole was not miles deep afterall. My father, in fact, could stand on the bottom and it only reached up to his chest.

Darkness, you know, is relative.

Obviously I'm not articulate enough to express my love for this book and how amazing it is. I hope the few paragraphs I chose would shed some light on the beauty that is Jodi Picoult's writing.
If you haven't already, pick up the book and read it :)

I will definitely visit the bookshop soon and pick up her other titles. <3
